Helping homeless animals often confronts volunteers with very scary, difficult cases. A homeless ginger kitten found itself on the street with a serious spinal injury. It couldn't move, eat, or even go to the bathroom. A tiny helpless creature, it simply lay there waiting for help. It was lucky! Kind people picked it up and placed it in a foster home. Later, it ended up at the animal shelter “Lyuskin Dom.” The kitten was given an unusual name – Olli.
A true fighter
In addition to the spinal injury, the kitten had gastrointestinal problems, nephritis, and bedsores. It also lost an eye. The staff at the shelter took its treatment seriously. They were used to it: “Lyuskin Dom” specializes in animals with very serious injuries and illnesses, fighting for every ward.
And Olli, feeling the support and care, began to believe in himself. He really wanted to get better. One day, he became so bold that he climbed out of his cage and sneaked into the food storage area. The shelter staff covers open cans with medical gloves to keep the pâté from drying out. Olli was mischievous! He snatched a glove and ate it. Oh, that was rather inconvenient during the treatment of his intestines! But all was well – a few days later, the latex was completely out of the kitten's system. To this day, volunteers marvel at how that little adventure succeeded for Olli, who was half-paralyzed.
A spinal cat is not a sentence
Now, Olli feels good. True, his hind legs do not work, but that doesn’t stop him from leading an active lifestyle and playing with other cats. He never stays on the sidelines! Sometimes he even teases his neighbors, but without aggression.
Olli is reasonable and very kind. This special ginger kitty deserves happiness! Become his guardian on our website and follow his fate. And to improve his stay at the shelter, sponsor a Kitty Day or Kitty Week. This way, the kitty will be provided with everything he needs.
