Grossi was thought to be a male due to her bright red coloring. However, after full examination vets concluded that she was a girl and, indeed, pregnant.

Ruta was abandoned by her owners at the summer cottage area. She ended up in a "Trap-Neuter-Return" program and was about to be returned to her familiar habitat, but it turned out there was no one to feed her there. The decision had been made to leave her at the shelter.
