In the autumn of 2020, compassionate people reached out to the "Ohana" rescue center for help: a family of raccoon dogs was living in terrible conditions in a cottage village. Once, they thrived in a beautiful enclosure and were the pride of a well-off owner’s estate. However, when he went bankrupt and left the country, the raccoon dogs were left to fend for themselves.

Abandoned to Fate

Josephina and her brother Kutuzov were discarded in a small rabbit hutch in the village. They were fed whatever scraps were available, and unfortunately, the rabbits were not the best neighbors for them. Soon, the raccoon dogs fell seriously ill...

A Miraculous Rescue

When a space opened up at the rescue center, kind caretakers decided to help with the treatment and rehoming of the pair. They quickly regained their health, but finding them a new home proved challenging. Wildlife reserves refused to take Kutuzov and Josephina, claiming they were not raccoons, but dogs. Therefore, they should reside in a dog shelter. Thus, the raccoon pups remained living in Oahana.

Children of the Hero City

The siblings were born in Maloyaroslavets—a heroic city from the 1812 war. They are wonderful, yet not very tamed children. They are afraid of dogs and live in pairs, finding warmth and safety in each other. These little bundles of fate are ready to embark on a new chapter of their amazing story in the embrace of loving and caring hands, if only such hands could be found.
