Dolly the Cat – an Unsuccessful Rat Catcher
There are many reasons why animals become homeless. Allergies. They're no longer wanted. They misbehave. They aren't litter trained. Dolly the cat has her own unusual story. Life hasn’t treated her kindly. She found herself on the street, scared and unwell. She stayed in one spot and didn’t move. A kind person took her in and arranged for her to be placed in a paid foster home. The little girl perked up a bit, gained some weight, and hope returned to her eyes. A home was found for her.
As it turned out later, the new family had no intention of feeding Dolly. She was expected to fend for herself – catching rats and mice at a sheep farm. In fact, that was the very reason she was taken in. From our experience, we know that not all cats are skilled hunters. Our heroine was among those who simply couldn't catch mice. She struggled with this task. Her owner was dissatisfied, and poor Dolly went hungry. She became thin and sick again.
Mission – Save Dolly
Volunteers learned that the little cat was in trouble. However, her owner was not interested in bringing her to the city. The farm was situated in such a remote area that neither maps nor GPS could help. Plus, a regular car couldn’t reach it. A few caring individuals banded together and took a Niva through the rough terrain to help Dolly!
Finding the place was challenging. However, they didn’t have to look for the cat for long. At the sound of "kitty kitty kitty," a frightened, starving cat shot out of the shed. It's hard to say how much longer she could have survived doing her “job.”
Better Days Have Come
The cat was brought to the "Domik" animal shelter for homeless animals. Oh, how she dove into the food! She couldn’t seem to get enough. She ate as if she thought those abundant days might soon be over. The little one was treated, and soon she was moved from the clinic to the green enclosure.
Dolly is truly a feisty cat. She won’t let anyone push her around and won't seek forbearance from her furry neighbors. But she is very affectionate with people. She loves to play with a ball and snuggle in hands. Therefore, we want to find her a family without other pets. Yes, this girl is quite possessive of attention.
